i miss greek frappes.
i miss those cold coffee drinks. everyone drank them. you got the frappes at bars and you cam make them at home. both times i went there, more people were drinking frappes then coke or beer.
it's a simple recipe - you don't have to spend $5 for pre made- mocha mixes or anything like that. it's nescafe instant coffee and water - that's it. you can buy an official nescafe frappe shaker, which they advertise a bunch of slick looking young greeks haging at their cafe. you can also get a water bottle and shake one yourself. put 1 - 2 teaspons of the coffee in the shaker and add just an inch of water. shake it up. it gets all foamy. pour the foam into a glass and fill with more water. it's that simple. it's that good.
i went to the store yesterday to get some. there's lots of nescafe at the greek import store near the city, but i'm in the 'burbs. nescafe has a new mocha or whatever mix which is like a coffe syrup and you add milk. but no nescafe. i settled for a jar of generic instant coffe.
ohhh,,, it's just not the same.
who'd ever thing that where were taste differences, as well as quality, in instant coffee.
